Ravenback™ Viking Seax Knife

The Ravenback™ Viking Seax Knife combines a distinctive broken-back blade profile with patterned Damascus steel and a traditional wood-and-bone handle.

Its approximately 7.5-inch sharpened blade is forged from 256 layers of 4340 and 1070 Damascus steel. The angular transition along the spine creates the characteristic broken-back profile associated with this style of historical Seax.

Measuring approximately 12.6 inches overall, the Ravenback™ offers a substantial Viking-inspired profile suitable for historical collections, Norse displays, and decorative setups.

The handle combines natural wood and animal bone, complemented by a brass collar and brass butt cap. The butt cap includes an eyelet, and a leather lanyard is supplied with the knife.

A hand-dyed vegetable-tanned leather sheath with ornate brass fittings completes the design. Its Viking-inspired suspension system uses two carrying rings, a strap divider, and three leather straps.

Broken-Back Seax Profile

The defining feature of the Ravenback™ is its broken-back blade shape, where the spine transitions sharply toward the point.

This angular profile gives the knife a distinctive historical appearance and separates it visually from the straighter Viking Seax designs in the Arham Cutlery collection.

256-Layer Damascus Steel

The blade is constructed from 256 layers of 4340 and 1070 Damascus steel and supplied with a sharpened edge.

The combination of different steels creates visible layered patterning across the blade, making the Damascus finish an important part of the knife's appearance.

Wood & Bone Handle

The handle combines natural wood and animal bone with contrasting brass fittings.

A brass collar sits toward the blade, while a brass butt cap finishes the opposite end. The butt cap also features an eyelet for the included leather lanyard.

Because genuine wood and bone are natural materials, variations in grain, coloration, and pattern should be expected between individual knives.

Viking-Style Leather Sheath

The included vegetable-tanned leather sheath is hand-dyed and decorated with ornate brass fittings.

Its suspension system consists of two carrying rings, a strap divider, and three leather straps, creating a traditional Viking-inspired carry arrangement.

Damascus Steel Care

The 4340/1070 Damascus steel used for this blade is not stainless.

Keep the blade clean and completely dry after handling. Periodically apply a thin coating of suitable blade oil to help protect the steel from moisture, tarnishing, and surface corrosion.

Never store the knife wet inside its leather sheath.
