Ironhide™ Viking Long Seax Knife

The Ironhide™ Viking Long Seax Knife combines an imposing historical-inspired profile with a long carbon steel blade, twin fullers, full-tang construction, and a leather-wrapped wooden handle.

Measuring approximately 24.8 inches overall, this substantial Viking-style Seax features an approximately 18.9-inch blade made from EN45 high-carbon spring steel. A thick spine, pointed profile, and twin fullers give the blade its distinctive appearance.

The blade extends through the entire handle, with the full tang peened securely to the pommel.

The wooden grip is tightly wrapped in brown leather and framed by a thick oval guard and late Viking-style pommel. Both fittings are cast from steel and blued, creating a dark finish that complements the brown leather grip.

A sturdy vegetable-tanned brown leather sheath is included, complete with a braided seam and twin belt loops for traditional Viking-style horizontal carry.

Large Viking Long Seax

At approximately 24.8 inches overall, the Ironhide™ is one of the largest Viking Seax designs in the Arham Cutlery collection.

Its approximately 18.9-inch blade creates an imposing long-Seax profile suited to historical collections, Viking displays, costumes, and Norse-themed setups.

EN45 Carbon Steel Blade

The blade is constructed from EN45 high-carbon spring steel with a thick spine measuring approximately 4.5 mm before tapering toward the point.

Two long fullers run along the blade, adding a distinctive visual feature to the otherwise straightforward historical-inspired design.

The edge is supplied unsharpened.

Full-Tang Construction

The blade's tang extends completely through the handle and is peened to the pommel.

This traditional construction method visually complements the straightforward character of the long Seax design.

Leather-Wrapped Wood Handle

The central grip is made from wood and tightly wrapped in brown leather.

A thick oval guard and late Viking-style pommel frame the grip. Both fittings are cast from steel and given a dark blued finish, creating a strong contrast with the brown leather.

Horizontal Carry Leather Sheath

The included sheath is constructed from sturdy brown vegetable-tanned leather.

A braided seam provides additional visual detail, while two belt loops allow the Seax to be suspended horizontally in a traditional Viking-inspired carry configuration.

Carbon Steel Care

EN45 high-carbon steel is not stainless and requires regular maintenance.

Keep the blade clean and completely dry. Apply a thin coating of suitable blade oil periodically to help protect the steel against moisture, tarnishing, and surface corrosion.

Avoid prolonged exposure to humidity and never store the blade wet inside its leather sheath.
