Boneforge Doublecrest™ Fixed-Blade Overview

The Boneforge Doublecrest™ is a compact fixed blade built for field use, camping, hunting, and general outdoor cutting tasks.

It measures 8.5 inches overall with a 4-inch double-bevel blade and a 4.5-inch handle. Its practical size makes it easy to carry while still giving you useful reach and control for outdoor activities.

240-Layer Blade Construction

The blade is made from hand forged Damascus steel using 240 layers of 5160 and 4340 carbon steel. The layered construction creates a distinctive pattern while giving the knife a strong handmade character.

This Damascus steel blade has a 5/32-inch thickness and a double-bevel profile. It is designed for controlled cutting during field work and everyday outdoor activities.

With proper care and sharpening, the blade is made to maintain a reliable sharp edge for practical use.

Natural Bone and Black Micarta Handle

The handle combines natural cattle bone with a Micarta fiber liner. A black burlap Micarta bolster creates a clean, contrasting transition between the blade and handle.

Because cattle bone is a natural material, color, markings, and surface texture can vary from one knife to another. The patterned blade will also have its own individual appearance.

This handle combination gives the knife a distinctive look for collectors and every outdoor enthusiast who appreciates natural materials and practical fixed-blade design.

Dual-Carry Belt Sheath

A vegetable-tanned leather sheath is included with horizontal and vertical belt loops. This gives you two carry options depending on your preference and the way you use your gear.

Always check that the knife is clean and dry before storing it. Do not leave the blade wet inside the sheath.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Damascus steel good for a hunting knife?

Yes. A well-made patterned blade can be a good choice for hunting when it has suitable blade geometry, reliable heat treatment, and regular care.

What makes this knife suitable for field use?

Its 4-inch blade, compact 8.5-inch profile, cattle bone and Micarta handle, plus two belt-carry options make it practical for outdoor use.

How much should a real Damascus knife cost?

Price can vary based on blade size, steel layers, handle materials, sheath work, craftsmanship, and finish. Always compare the actual specifications of the knife before buying.

Why can’t historic Damascus steel be made exactly the same today?

Historic Damascus is linked to older wootz-steel methods whose original production conditions are not fully known. Modern patterned blades use a different layered forging process.
