The Stagcrest Packhawk™ is a compact handmade pack hatchet combining hand-forged O1 tool steel with a traditional crown stag handle and classic brass detailing.

At approximately 10.5 inches overall, this mini hatchet offers a compact profile suited to outdoor gear collections, camp kits, display, and enthusiasts of traditional handmade tools.

The O1 tool steel head is hand forged and hammermarked, preserving the rugged character of the forging process. A 2.5-inch cutting edge gives the compact head a practical hatchet profile.

The handle features natural crown stag, secured with a brass pin. A soldered brass guard transitions into layered maroon, black, brass, and horsehide spacers, creating a distinctive traditional appearance.

A handmade basket-weave sheath is included to protect the cutting edge during storage and transport.

Care & Maintenance

O1 tool steel should be kept clean and dry to help protect it against corrosion. After use, wipe the steel thoroughly and apply a light coating of suitable blade oil or protective wax.

Avoid prolonged exposure to water, rain, or excessive humidity.

Keep the crown stag and horsehide components away from excessive moisture, heat, and harsh cleaning chemicals.

For extended storage, keep the hatchet in a dry environment and avoid leaving the steel inside a damp sheath.
